 Happy New Year to all you Long Beach Charters (LBC's)friends. We sincerely hope you are doing well and that you had opportunity to visit with family and friends during the holiday season.
LBC's services in Ucluelet and Barkley Sound have extended into Alberni Valley's Inlet and Somass-Stamp River, facilitated by Slivers Charters . Ucluelet's offshore offers fabulous adventures for Halibut, Chinook, and Coho. Barkley Sound and Alberni Inlet are calm and scenic and teem with Chinook and Coho and Sockeye during the summer months. Wildlife viewing of Whales, Seal lions, eagles,etc. occur every day.
Beginning in January we offer our “SEAFOOD SAFARI”; We leave our dock in Ucluelet and fish the protected areas around Ucluelet and Barkley Sound for prawns, crabs, oysters and 8 to 14 pound Chinook Salmon, a.k.a. feeder springs, winter Chinook, or black mouths. This fishery culminates with the herring which spawn in March. Last year the biggest fish was 25 pounds caught in February off Beg Island in the Ucluelet harbour mouth.
 In April, the Herring migration takes us offshore as the lured Salmon follow onto the nearby Southbank and the much fabled “BigBank”. By March, Halibut have begun their inshore migration onto these banks from their spawning grounds near the edge of the continental shelf. Then the Lingcod season opens April 15th.
By June and till September 15th, Salmon and Halibut are all over the place! In 2006, Chinook Salmon fishing was awesome as always as is the prediction this year with more Coho Salmon in the forecast. The Halibut fishing was as good as ever and numerous Lingcod catches were unprecidented. Sockeye begin to school up in June in the Alberni Inlet and continues into early August. We now offer the “GRAND SLAM!” package: 3 days of back to back fishing in two locals starting with Sockeye and/or Chinook and Coho Salmon in Alberni Inlet, then to Ucluelet for Big Chinook and Coho Salmon, Halibut and incidental bottom dwellers.
 Then till November 15th we continue with a variety of fishing opportunites for Lingcod averaging 15 pounds, 15 + pound Halibut, Rockfish which we try to conserve, and the ever present feeder Chinook.
During the summer we will be doing morning 8-hour trips and afternoon 4-6 hours trips. For birthdays and other celebrations we offer gift certificates.
