“It's like fishing heaven ...”

Those were the words of 10-year-old Justin during his fishing trip with LBC in late May. Justin, with a little help from dad Peter and mom Paula, snagged double header salmon and halibut. As he fought his second 17lb Chinook, a Humpback whale leapt out of the water in a full breach 300 feet off the stern! We often see lots of Humpback and Grey whales through April and May as they pass the west coast on their summer migration south, but it's only a lucky few who get to see them so active. “So how's the fishing been ...”

We thought you'd never ask! Through late May and June, we've been seeing averages of nine hits per day with consistent 20-24lb Chinooks and Halibut. The top Chinook catch of June - a 28lber - was picked up by Erv B., and the season Halibut catch record is currently held by Dave T. and his 52lber (see photos below).

Richard P. and his 12-year-old son, Andre, experienced firsthand the great fishing conditions we've been enjoying on their fishing trip with us in late June. With calm seas and clear skies, they picked up five Chinook, ranging 17 – 24lbs, within their first three hours of fishing, and were back to their campsite with their catch by lunchtime. Congratulations to Andre on his 24lb Chinook (pictured below).

Paul & Melanie F. celebrated their 10^th Anniversary on the water – and went home with 4 halibut, and 17lb - 20lb Chinook.
